Unhappy Returning gamer-should I leave my guild?

Hi everyone!

I'm someone returning to Guild Wars after quite a long time of inactivity, mostly due to the fact that most people in my guild moved onto other games, or decided not to play since most people in the guild had moved on ... it was a vicious circle.

Anyway, I return to the game to find not one of the members has logged on in over a year. The guild is pretty much dead.

Yet the guild did have some nice things - a nice guild hall, a name I liked (Union of Kings).

I'm wondering though, should I leave it? I'm not much of an advertiser or recruiter, so I doubt I'd ever get many active people in the guild.
Should I try join up with an active guild instead of living in these past memories?

Any comments greatly appreciated!

move on, like the others did. guilds die out eventually so don't die along

you might be missing some things if u don't join up with a new active guild.

It takes certain type of personality to build up a guild's numbers and a lot of interfacing with various people trying to convince them to join.

Of course, getting people is often the easier part, keeping them and recruiting quality is more challenging. I simply never had the patience for it. It's like going out and recruiting friends, I like having friends but I can't really recruit them. I get friends in a much more messy fashion, lol.

If you don't think you're that certain personality type, you'd probably be better off meeting new friends naturally and joining a new guild after you get to know some peeps.

I personally enjoy working in a guild but not on the recruitment side of the house, so I tend to join established guilds and find a way to contribute once I am at home in the guild.

First thing, you have to post a screenshot of your roster..i have to see that.

second, if you are just a member or officer then your better off finding a new guild. If however your the leader, You should ask yourself if you have enough time and effort to rebuild an active guild and have the energy to keep it that way.

If you think you can do it then go right ahead, If not then simply find a guild of like-minded players to join.

Heh, here is the almighty Guild Roster for your enjoyment!

Thanks for the replies everyone I guess I'm one of those guys who finds things hard to let go.

I'll look for a guild and say goodbye to this one, as it's obviously going to make my stay in the game pretty dull being by myself.

Join a new guild, I say. Go to the guild section:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9

You'll see the "looking for a guild?", it's a sticky can't miss it. And advertise youself there, pve, pvp, whatever you fancy. Good luck with a new guild.

wow, you are in a tough spot, like isamu said, if you are a member or officer, i would leave and find another active guild, but in my case, i have been in my guild since day one, i started as a member, the leader saw fit to promote me to an officer within 4 months of membership and then the leader went AFK (he is in the service and is serving actively). thats when our guild membership dropped. after a period of 4 months of the leader being inactive we were down to 5 members. Guild Wars actually promoted me to leader.
well, needless to say, i was a little concerned about our guild, i decided to start booting the inactive members and begin recruiting, but not by spamming it. i recruited very simply, i joined pugs and did many misions over and over, but asking my pug group players if anyone was interested in joining.
well over a year has passed since my promotion and we are a very active PVE only guild with 30+ members. i guess the moral is, make a decision and then live by it. enjoy and have fun and good luck.

Hrm good point, but my recruiting skills are pretty much non existent

Probably a lot better to join an existing guild. Thanks for the suggestion though
